End of our journey

Yup, i suppose everyone would have know the news by now ya.
Some of us may feel sad, disappointed, cheated.
But remember, we never did aimed for presentation night. Rather, we aimed to play the music, to play our hearts out, to play our Rhapsody.
And we did just that, on 11th May. Band number 12. That short 10+ min on stage.
We did it. We played like we never did before.
The journey to the day was tough, but we have each other. We encouraged one another, we persevered, we had fun, we stayed strong and united.
On stage, we achieved our One Band, One Sound. Off stage, we are One Family Unbroken.
Those, i say, are the most beautiful and most meaningful parts of our whole journey.
Presentation night or not, we have accomplished what we have set out to do, exceeding our expectations even.
That is what we should be proud of.

J1s, the seniors have finally left, and you are now on your own, but i'm sure u guys will do just fine. Just remember what the j2s have taught you, remember what sajccb is about. Keep the band spirit alive, the legacy is now yours to uphold.

J2, we have finally ended our band journey. Though our journey arguably ended sort of prematurely and abrupt, but like what i say, its how we travel this journey that counts, and I say, we have ended our journey well. I'm proud of all of us.

Cheers!

whoever put up that last post, pls dun do it again. we could get into trouble...

-

just to clarify junjie above...

don't put up recordings of non-sajcband property for download because it may infringe certain copyright laws... it caused some trouble for a certain jc a couple of years ago so we should be careful yeah?

Don't worry he is not referring to any personal posts! =)

STUDY HARD J2s! We will all own BT2! =D

SYF 2007

this whole event is finally over.

SYF 2007. over within spilt seconds(minutes).

shorter than the amount of time we spent in SCH rehearsing and playing through over and over again, sometimes even without Mr Glosz.

with all the nonsense and stuffs like TSMFs to encourage us and boost our morale, which i think did help to a small extent. i think it was quite fun though during that period of time. haha.

i still remember the night before SYF. we were told to slp early. i reach home. switch on the com, and the explorer just keep hanging on me. maybe its a sign for me. haha..

throughout the performance, i think i just kept lifting my heads high, searching for the people that specially came down to support the band, and smiling at anyone that actually looked towards our direction.

we ooze of confidence. we stank of success. we just F-IT whatever that comes our way. and we did it.

although i didnt get to hear the words " Band No. 12, St Andrew's Junior College Concert Band - Gold. With Honours. " , i can sense it when everyone just started cheering, screaming and jumping for joy. the feeling is there and i believe everyone felt it then.

i think this is 1 of the few times which i actually shed tears - tears of joy. tears of success. tears of the amount of hard work we put in and the results we reaped.

though there were cock ups in our performance, i still believe we did our best and give it our best shot, staring and focusing on our beloved, because it is through him that our music can be brought out with great dynamics to the 7 judges(idiots). its perfectly normal, because if there were no mistakes, we will not be called the SAJCCB. we will be a tape recorder. it is with all these minor errors and the cover up of even greater music making that allows our band to shine through to everyone sitting in the audience seats.

many thanks to everyone that were by our side, never failing to give us supports and help when we need it. this is esp so to Mr Glosz, Mr Benjamin Yeo, Mr Meroy Heng, our beloved teacher in charge Ms Ho, alumnis, members of the secondary schools and other JCs and many more.

last but not least to our own band members who gave ur best and put up a good show.

i want to thank the J2s.

emmeline, poon shi, shuk man, rachel, joel, pamela, zakiah, brandon, nicholas.
esther, dorothy, hafiz, ansley, yi siong, jiahao, elissa, alison, deborah, jocelyn, mok.
michelle, lynette, fung yin, kevin, nicole, eunice, yi mei, colin, junjie, xiao wei, john, mindy, kenneth, vincent, wei qin.
jasmine, zhi qi, sylvia, bernadette, ying jia, rebecca, wan ling.

for all we know, this might be our last journey, but i feel that it somehow will end in July. haha.
thanks for putting up with all the problems we created and carrying it all the way till the last sec before SYF. endless discussions, meetings, dinners. i think though sick of it, we never fail to give positive feedbacks and comments wrt to any topic we discussed. i think for that, we really deserved a round of applause for all that we've being through.

To the J1s,

joanna, jasmine, ben yeo, benny, xing tong, wei theng, rui xian.
gabriel, rui qi, tau, kekang, shi lin, ben chua, vanessa, si jia, daryl, michelle.
daniel, hui hong, jeremy, margaret, min er, aaron, farah, james, joshua, brandon, jian hui, kenneth, benedict, bean, hayden, syarah, caryl, melisa, shafiq.
augustine, jerrald, xin mei, ernica.

it has been a great time working with you guys. sorry if i spell any names wrongly or left out any. the time has come for us to depart. i hope your batch will lead yourselves together with the future of the band down the road as 1 and bring it to a greater height.

this has indeed being a tough journey that everyone took together. but i believe through this journey, we understand and cared about each other more than what we used to do so. we definitely dismissed away any bad beliefs or comments that we received after 11th May 2007, because this is when where we showed ppl that we, the SAJCCB members, have done it again.

so once again presenting to you.

SYF 2007. MAY 11th. BAND NO. 12.
THE ST ANDREW'S JUNIOR COLLEGE CONCERT BAND.
WE HAVE CREATED OUR OWN LEGACY.

WE DID IT PEOPLE.

we created our very own miracle!
i'm just so glad to see BAND SPIRIT developed in us over the concert and SYF. we improved so much and all of us worked so damn hard to get to where we are right now.

good job people! i don't care whether we make it into Presentation Night or not, what's important is that we jumped and screamed and cried together, and for the first time in 2 years, epitomised One Band, One sound.

hey everyone!

yup, despite all our shortcomings, our last-min works, the different problems of different sections, and the thousand n one other things that stood in our way, we finally did it, we finally overcame rhapsody n safari.

so proud of all of us.

of cos, this couldnt have been possible without the help and immerse support of our dear alumnis, benji, mr heng, and most important of all, Mr Glosz. a big thanks to all of u!!

11th may 2007. this day is OURS.

dedicated to my band.

hey guys. (:
SYF IS TOMORROW! you all feeling okay?
our faces have been getting more and more drained, and it seems that with every encouragment that comes along, something discouraging happens to put us back into dead mode.
i know most of us are emotionally vulnerable, and given the pride we feel for each other, it's easy for us to not keep our cool as sajc band members always do. (:
but some people may not understand, so lets just keep supporting each other and let some people carry on in their delusion.

and krystal: you have every right to state your opinions, but it's only nice to be sensitive to my bandmates' feelings while you do so. and by the way, unless you think you're God, dont you judge my student conductor. that's jiahao for you, take it or leave it.
in any case, if you honestly intend to wish us well, i suggest you stop talking on our board.
flame my board if you want. stop being a possible cause for worry to the band.
thanks.

sorry for digressing. ANYWAY.
i met ruiqi vanessa and james outside the staffroom just now, and they looked like the living dead. gosh. and we're all falling sick one by one. everyone please please please put on cucumbers and sleep like dead logs early tonight! or immediately after the performance high for all you know we might all just fall sick. like in the case of exam fever.
choy ha.

our batch (j1+j2) is so different.
ok i know no two batches are unique and blah but really, there's something very different about this. it's nothing like what i used to see when during my brother's time, not exactly the reason i wanted to come here in the first place.
but. i'll have to say, i wished for a lot, but i'm leaving with much more.
our foundations were strong, but it took so much of us to learn to appreciate each other. and to realise that we were all not here by chance.
so i thank God for leading me here and letting me be a part of you.
and tomorrow, up on that stage, i'm playing my piece as a final gift to the band.
and leave the stage without regrets
cos.. j2s, rmbr last year, orientation theme song?
i know you've had the time of your life.

over the past week, we've made so much progress musically, and our band spirit has grown so much stronger.
no matter how tiring our days were, we still came for band wanting to give more each day.
wanting to sound better, wanting to play to motivate each other.
ok so towards the end we got a little too tired to persevere bUT STILL.
we've come a damn super long way.
and only towards the end did hope glimmer
and the hope isn't in the form of an award, but our spirit. drive. interest.
and love, for each other, for our seniors, for the sajc band.

let that shine through all of us.
it's gonna be ok (:
jiayou band!

God bless.

i think yesterday's rehersal at SCH was a wake-up call for us. a good one.

perhaps it's because of our lack of time for practice, perhaps it was our concert.
perhaps this year really isn't SAJC's year.

whatever the reason may be, i feel that it's time to stop pondering over WHY we sound the way we sound, and actually DO something about it. 4 days is a short yet long amount of time.

in 4 days, if we really put our heart to it, we can clear up all our individual inadequacies, solve rhythm problems and listen out for blending.

in 4 days, the flame and the passion could be reignited.
i think all of us are merely waiting for a miracle to happen. a miracle from Mr Glosz, or benji or meroy.
but it's not going to happen. because i feel what we truly lack is the very basic element in achieving excellence- desire.
a miracle WILL NOT happen during the course of the next 4 days, but we can CREATE A MIRACLE OURSELVES.

i'm not sure about the rest of you, but i really really do want to do Rhapsody justice on 11th May, as well as show the audience the miracle that SAJC band, despite its shortcomings, have created.

come on people, you have to CRAVE for excellence if you want to be excellent on 11th may. i can't say for sure that we will definitely do well, but i want to end my band life knowing that SAJC Band's spirit has not died afterall.

Winning isn't everything, but wanting to win is.
